Raffaello Sanzio a young artist called to Rome by the Pope to paint his apartments, found himself living among the aristocracy of the time and soon betrothed to Maria, the grand daughter of Cardinal Medici. But Raffaello falls madly in love with Margherita, the daughter of a humble baker of Trastevere, a forbidden love of great passion played out in secrecy.
